What Employees Need to Know

WHAT IS RECOMMENDED FOR BUSINESSES RIGHT NOW?

  • OSHA suggests that employers consider adopting policies requiring workers to vaccinate or undergo regular COVID-19 testing.
  • Employees get tested regularly, especially in substantial or high community transmission areas.
      • Fully vaccinated people should get tested 3-5 days after exposure and wear a mask in public indoor settings for 14 days or until they receive a negative test result.
  • People who are not fully vaccinated should be tested immediately after identifying a potential exposure and, if negative, tested again in 5–7 days after last exposure or immediately if symptoms develop during quarantine.
  • The CDC states that employees who become ill with symptoms of COVID-19 should leave the workplace.

WORKPLACE TESTING

WHAT TO DO IF YOU ARE RETURNING FROM TRAVEL

  1. Get tested for current infection with a COVID-19 viral test 3-5 days after arrival.
  2. Self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms; isolate and get tested if you develop symptoms.
  3. While there isn’t a mandatory quarantine period or mandatory post-travel testing for the unvaccinated, the CDC strongly advises a self-quarantine for up to 10 days. It’s possible to shorten the self-quarantine period by getting a post-travel test.
    1. The two self-quarantine guidelines depend on whether or not you get a post-travel test.
      1. Self-quarantine for 7 days and get a post-travel test between days 3 and 5.
      2. Self-quarantine for 10 days (if you skip the post-travel test) .
  4. If your test is positive or you develop COVID-19 Symptoms after traveling, isolate yourself to protect others from getting infected.

TESTING CAN IMPROVE WORKPLACE SAFETY

  • Employers might have been exposed to COVID-19 on their travels. They might feel well and not have any symptoms, but they can still be infected and spread the virus to others. Testing confirms that there is no spreading of the virus in the workplace after traveling.
  • All employers should remain alert to and informed about changing outbreak conditions, including as they relate to community spread of the virus and testing availability, and implement infection prevention and control measures accordingly.

TYPES OF TESTING OFFERED AT GS LABS:

COVID-19 RAPID LAMP TEST (NAAT-LAMP) :

This NAAT-LAMP test is administered with a nasal swab. The Limit of Detection (LoD) is also among the lowest measured for the FDA SARS-CoV-2 Reference Panel. This test is not covered by insurance and is charged as an out-of-pocket expense of $299.00.

COVID-19 RAPID & FLU ANTIGEN COMBINED TEST:

GS Labs - Provides Over 2 million COVID-19 tests

The pandemic continues to challenge the nation and GS Labs continues to test.

GS Labs reached a national milestone by administering 2 million COVID-19 tests since we began testing in October 2020. GS Labs entered the COVID-19 testing space as the pandemic initially swept through Nebraska and the Midwest. At the time, loved ones and friends of the company’s partners could not find COVID-19 tests anywhere after being exposed to the coronavirus. GS Labs set out to help solve this problem with convenient, quick and safe testing options.

GS Labs Provides 2 million covid 19 test COVID-19 Testing

GS Labs expanded across the U.S with new locations in response to community and patient demand, currently operating 16 locations throughout the country.

GS Labs has a dedicated phone line staffed by registered nurses to help interpret test results and answer COVID-19 related health questions.

The nurse hotline (402-659-7709) is available to all patients to ensure you feel no questions go unanswered.

Building a Highly Complex Reference Laboratory

To help patients make informed decisions, GS Labs began offering rapid tests due to the need for fast results. As the pandemic evolved, so did the testing needs in our communities, and GS Labs continued to rise to the situation. Rapid Antigen tests are a highly sought-after test due to the timeliness of results; however, the more complex PCR test quickly became the gold standard in detecting the virus within just days of infection. As such, we continued to expand our testing capabilities. Through thoughtful planning, aggressive timelines, the procurement of state-of-the-art testing machinery and bringing on industry-leading laboratory experts, we built a highly complex (CAP Certified) reference laboratory to process PCR tests from GS Labs testing facilities nationwide. Through the millions of tests, hundreds of thousands of PCR tests alone, we’ve helped communities across the country identify the spread of the COVID-19 virus and make safe, educated decisions on the return to work or school, travel and attending events.

With Rapid Antigen and Confirmatory PCR tests, GS Labs provides our patients with the timely benefits of rapid testing and the accuracy of laboratory analysis in a single visit.

Thank you for trusting GS Labs with your testing needs. We look forward to continuing to serve you, your loved ones and our communities.

COVID-19 Test. Now What?

What to do after you’ve been tested to ensure your safety.

After you’ve been tested for COVID-19, regardless of the outcome, GS Labs wants to be sure you are staying safe.

If Your Test is Positive

The CDC recommends staying home. In most cases, many people can get through COVID-19 or other illnesses without medical care. It is recommended to stay home unless you must get medical care. Most importantly, be sure you stay in touch with your doctor, especially if you are having an emergency. Once you feel better, disinfect the area you spent your time.

If Your Test is Negative

This means that you were not infected at the time of your test. While this is great news, it does not mean you cannot get sick. You still may be exposed to the virus after being tested and if you do experience symptoms again, the CDC advises to go get tested.

To keep protecting yourself and others, it is best to continue to wear a mask, wash your hands often and keep 6 feet distance between yourself and others. This is something to practice if you did test negative and after you have finished quarantining if you did test positive.

How to Keep up with Best Practices

To keep yourself informed about to ensure you are practicing all safety measures, GS Labs recommends following the CDC Guidelines. Another way you can help those around you, is by sharing places and sources for them to get tested. At GS Labs we are working to provide resources to help you and those are you stay informed on safety practices as well as testing for your community. If anyone you know might need testing, help direct them to a good place to go.

As a reminder, the CDC is still learning about reinfection of COVID-19. While it is still rare, there have been cases of reinfection reported. Due to this, if you have been infected and are showing symptoms of COVID-19 it is best to get tested to be safe along with continuing to practice best safety precautions.

At-Home COVID Tests Vs. Professionally Administered Tests

With the continued effects of the COVID-19 pandemic keeping people at home, at-home COVID-19 test kits are becoming increasingly viable for many people. There are plenty of benefits that exist with an In-Home, Self-Administered test and frequent testing is a benefit to an individual and their community. Taking a look at some of the differences between in-home COVID tests vs. professional lab tests, there are some items that may make you want to reconsider prior to ordering an in-home test kit.

Professional Care With COVID-19 Testing:

Professional COVID-19 testing labs, like GS Labs, utilize medically trained staff in the testing of patients. With Registered Nurses and other properly trained employees, as well as processes and procedures that have gone through strict approvals, your tests are conducted at a level required to provide quality results. There are plenty of opportunities to contaminate a swab test or to improperly collect the sample, which would provide inaccurate results, from handling the swab to actually making sure it gathers enough sample, to placing it in a container to ship out. To an untrained person, a lot of these contaminant contact points may not be obvious, but trained staff know to be on the look out for these and work to ensure quality throughout.

Rapid COVID Results:

Mail-in results can only go as fast as the post office or shipping company can get them. Whether it be overnight or First-Class, test results at their best are “Next Day”. GS Labs Rapid Antigen Test can provide you with quality results in 20 minutes or less. You don’t have to worry about getting i

At a time when postal bandwidth being constantly being strained during COVID-19’s, delays are often frequent with many shipping transactions.

Insurance Covered for COVID-19 Testing:

It is rare for an insurance to cover the cost of an in-home COVID-19 test kit, making it a purely out-of-pocket cost. Professional laboratory testing, like GS Labs, can be booked through insurance.

Benefits of Professional COVID-19 Lab Testing:

So whether you’re looking at the benefits of in-home testing as just the convenience factor, take into consideration some of this short list of benefits which include professional care, rapid results and insurance coverage, among many others, when making your decision.

With GS Labs testing, you can schedule your COVID-19 test online, show up at your scheduled time, get tested right in your car and have your results back within 20 minutes. With same-day appointments available, you can get in, get tested and get your results before an at-home test kit can even get sent to you!

Types of Rapid COVID Testing

While the coronavirus is still in our communities, it is likely at some point you will become concerned you have it and seek testing. You may feel sick or have come in contact with someone who recently tested positive for COVID-19. According to the Nebraska Department of Health, approximately 75-80 percent of patients with COVID-19 either have no symptoms or have minor symptoms. If you’re worried you are infected, you are likely full of questions. Where do you go, what do you do? How do you get tested? GS Labs Testing is utilizing rapid antigen tests and rapid IgM/IgG (antibody) tests to provide you a test – and peace of mind – in as soon as 20 minutes.
