Friends and family of GS Labs leaders struggled to find COVID-19 tests after being exposed to COVID-19. Recognizing its health care resources and operational expertise, GS Labs and its parent company, City+Ventures, step in quickly to meet the needs of their families and communities.

GS Labs opens its first testing site in the greater Seattle area in Federal Way.

Within the first three months of providing COVID testing, GS Labs rapidly opened testing sites around the nation from the ground up and with zero existing infrastructure. By the end of the year, GS Labs employed nearly 2,000 health care professionals in 17 states, providing same-day appointments and results in as soon as 20 minutes.

Following late 2020 FDA approval of the COVID-19 vaccine from Pfizer/BioNTech for individuals aged 16 years and older, the Biden administration announced that 50 million COVID-19 vaccines have been administered.
March 2021
The first cases of the COVID-19 Delta variant begin appearing in the United States. Delta was believed to be more than twice as contagious as previous variants and led to an overwhelming increase in hospitalizations. GS Labs continued to serve patients with rapid and PCR COVID-19 tests.

Washington Governor, Jay Inslee, announces that public schools K-12 must offer students at least 30% in-person instruction every week by April 19, 2021. Concerned parents continue to seek out COVID-19 testing at GS Labs to ensure peace of mind as children return to in-person instruction.

Dr. Darin Jackson, medical director of GS Labs announces that GS Labs tests can detect the Delta Variant along with all other strains of COVID-19. The Delta Variant continues to be the cause of a rising number of cases – responsible for more than 80% of cases, making COVID-19 more contagious.

January 1, 2022
During the first week of the new year, GS Labs performed more than 49,000 rapid antigen tests, an increase of 65% as compared to Thanksgiving week. Tests administered by GS Labs identified more than 13,000 patients who tested positive for COVID-19 during the first week of January- giving them the chance to safely quarantine and avoid spreading the virus to loved ones and co-workers.

GS Labs passed a significant milestone, testing its 1 millionth patient for COVID-19. Through the surge, GS Labs expanded our capacity to perform up to 1,000 tests each day, across locations. As needs grew, so did we.

Dr. Lindsey Nielsen, Medical Laboratory Director of GS Labs, works through immense certification requirements to provide Yiech Pur Biel, Goodwill Ambassador for the United States Refugee Agency, with testing at GS Labs – the only local site approved by China and the International Olympics Committee. As a result, he was cleared for travel and represented refugees in Beijing during the 2022 Olympics.

Despite the resurgence in COVID-19 positivity rates across the U.S., the government shifted funding for at-home tests towards vaccines and support. In response, national testing provider GS Labs continued to test hundreds of patients daily, providing them with the peace of mind of a professional COVID-19 test when they weren’t readily available elsewhere.
